He was referring to the Netflix reality-dating show “Love Is Blind,” in which contestants are isolated in windowless rooms called pods and speak.
From Digital Spy. Love Is Blind is a marker of Netflix ‘s continued expansion into reality television, with a particular emphasis on finding the perfect dating format. As a viewer, it feels downright bizarre to see some of the contestants professing their love for one another in a matter of minutes or in their case, days but the idea that you can form a deep, emotional connection through distraction-free talking, and without passing judgement on someone’s appearance, is certainly an interesting one.
But then things don’t just stop there, because it’s a TV show and that would be boring. Engagement rings are introduced and the couples have four weeks to start working towards their wedding, while also seeing if they can integrate into one another’s lives — and we’re talking friends, family, homes, the whole caboodle. We told you it was wild. There is one aspect of the series that we need to discuss, and which trips up an otherwise trashy but wonderfully bingeable series.
As with many mainstream dating shows before it, Love Is Blind has a heteronormative format. From the start, the lineup of singles were split into two groups — men and women — with them then speed-dating each other to find the person they wanted to be with. This set-up only allows for opposite-sex partnerships. While we can’t speak for every contestant’s identity or sexuality without it being categorically addressed on-screen, there is only one spoken exception to this seemingly straight rule.
Carlton Morton revealed to the viewers in episode one that he had previously had relationships with men and women. While he didn’t actually label himself — and there’s no reason he should — he said that a person’s gender didn’t have a bearing on whether or not he was attracted to them.
Love Is Blind was bizarre and immoral. I can’t wait for season two
When it comes to feel-good shows for the summer, it doesn’t get much better than Netflix’s Love on the Spectrum. Given that those on the spectrum have difficulty in social situations, dating is pretty challenging.
But like everyone else, they crave social connections and ultimately love. While Netflix picked up the streaming rights for this series, it actually originally hails from Australia.

Love Is Blind is a dating reality television series, produced by Kinetic Content and created by Chris Coelen which premiered on Netflix on February 13, as.
And last week, it was with Love on the Spectrum , an Australian reality-show-cum-docuseries that follows a group of single adults on the autism spectrum as they explore the dating world. Love on the Spectrum is built like a typical dating show: We meet the 11 daters, and their friends and families, and follow them in various dating scenarios speed dating, blind dates, etc.
Overall, Love on the Spectrum does something that is curiously absent in a genre that is ostensibly about love, which is actually showing it. Take Ruth and Thomas, who are engaged and recently got married. They have a ton of chemistry, and a supportive, loving, and very sexy relationship, which they talk about openly. This is problematic in a lot of ways, many of which I only realized after reading feedback from a neurodiverse audience. For instance, how all of the dates were strictly between autistic people, and how ridiculous the cutesy music is for a dating show about adults.
Romantic love, yes, but also self-love, familial love, and love between friends and communities. Already a subscriber?

This all culminates in a nearly minute finale on the third and final week Feb. Their involvement dates back to early , when Nick and Vanessa had a meeting at Netflix. From the moment of that meeting to the show actually starting took about four months, Vanessa says. While you may not see it on camera, Nick and Vanessa both spent much of the process talking to the singles before and after the dates they go on. But what if no one from the 30 singles fell in love across a wall?
This is not really a spoiler since the rest of the series would become rather boring, but couples do go on through the whole process.
